Education Programs at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota

M.A. in Teaching

A Master of Arts in Teaching is the perfect starting point or next step for aspiring elementary school, middle school, and high school teachers. You’ll sharpen your teaching skills and gain valuable knowledge about teaching techniques, curriculums, and issues you may face in the classroom. Dreaming of becoming a teacher and already have a bachelor’s degree in hand? This is the program to help turn that dream into reality.

M.A. in Education

A Master of Arts in Education can help you take your teaching career to the next level where you may become an instructional coach who helps other teachers boost the quality of their lessons, or a peer coach who teams up with colleagues to support their leadership and career development. If you’re currently a licensed or experienced teacher who wants to advance your career, this is the program for you.

Licensure Programs in Education

Our programs can help you earn superintendent licensure, principal licensure, or director of special education licensure. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing educational policies, budgets, curriculum development, or personnel management. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the future of your educational institution by providing leadership and direction that is crucial to student success.

Doctor of Education: Leadership

If you pursue an advanced degree in education, you may find yourself taking on a leadership role — think professor, provost, president, or headmaster — at one of the country’s esteemed universities or colleges. Higher education administrators manage the day-to-day operations at universities or colleges and provide support services for faculty, staff, students, and alumni. In addition to managing budgets and scheduling classes, they also handle admissions applications and advocate for student life programs such as clubs or sports teams. Note that we require a master’s degree from an accredited institution to embark on this program.

A Doctor of Education in Leadership can equip you for leadership positions off campus, too. Top organizations — including businesses, healthcare companies, and nonprofits — look for candidates that demonstrate the skills a degree in education instills. Whether you hope to become a vice president, executive director, C-suite executive, or leadership consultant, a degree in education can help get you there.

Executive Doctor of Education: Leadership

If you’re an experienced leader — we’re talking at least 10 years under your belt — this online Executive Doctor of Education in Leadership program will equip you with the skills to excel in executive-level positions across a range of industries. The program is designed for the experienced leader who has a master’s degree from an accredited institution.
